Watch now: My Best Friend’s Birthday (Quentin Tarantino, 1987)

Officially Quentin Tarantino’s first film, My Best Friend’s Birthday took four years to complete. It was originally 70 minutes long, but half of it got destroyed in a fire, so only 36 minutes remains in tact.

Even though it’s incomplete, you can see Tarantino’s flair for screenwriting and for creating compelling characters. His own character is perhaps the most interesting as he hosts a radio show, snorts coke and argues about Elvis and Marlon Brando.
