‘Shuffle’ film festival in psychiatric hospital – curated by Danny Boyle (Aug 8th – 18th)

We’ve seen it all when it comes to weird film festival venues – from hot tubs to cemeteries, floating pop-ups balancing on swimming pools, in jail cells and made out of fridges, but next month we are being given the chance to experience cinema inside a psychiatric hospital, courtesy of Danny Boyle, who has curated this unique 10-day event.

This is the first time the grounds of St Clement’s Hospital will be open to the public since it was built in 1848. Since then, it has been a workhouse, a medical observation unit and a psychiatric unit. It closed in 2005 and became known as ‘the spookiest abandoned London hospital‘ around. But now it’s reopened for social events!

As well as the venue being oh so intriguing, the films programmed are fantastic! Definitely an event not to be missed – especially the Q&As and the ‘movie marathon’ on the 18th!
