Sony has confirmed that Sam Mendes will return to direct the next James Bond film. The film, currently called ‘Bond 24’ is set to be released on November 6th, 2015.
In March this year, Mendes spoke out saying that he would not be taking on the project, due to other commitments. He said:
“It has been a very difficult decision not to accept Michael Wilson and Barbara Broccoli’s very generous offer to direct the next Bond movie. Directing ‘Skyfall’ was one of the best experiences of my professional life, but I have theatre and other commitments, including productions of ‘Charlie And The Chocolate Factory’ and ‘King Lear,’ that need my complete focus over the next year and beyond.” Mendes told Empire.
A press release has now been issued confirming that Mendes will be directing. He said in a statement:
“I very much look forward to taking up the reins again, and to working with Daniel Craig, Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli for a second time.”
Skyfall is the highest-grossing film of all time in the UK, and made $1.1 billion worldwide.
