Out of all the trucks in all the countries in all the world, Mark Wahlberg just happened to buy an old, battered and rusting truck that used to be the greatest Transformer who ever lived. What are the chances, eh? Well, one hundred percent in this instance. If he’d just bought an ordinary truck and smartened it up, this would simply be an elongated episode of Pimp My Ride, but luckily for us, he bought Optimus Prime, leader of the Autobots, resulting in another instalment of the CGI heavy Transformers franchise, entitled Age of Extinction.
Directed once again by Michael Bay, the film tells the story of Cade Yeager (Mark Wahlberg) and his daughter Tessa (Nicola Peltz), who accidentally discover Optimus Prime when Cade buys a old truck. Since the last three Transformers movies, the planet Earth has moved on, and no longer need the help of the giant metal robots, or so they think. Before we know it, all hell breaks loose again, thanks to lots of things exploding, people running very slowly through things exploding, and once the dust settles on the things that have exploded, they explode again, so the scene is set for another battle for survival on planet Earth.
To see if the human race can once again defeat the evil robot Decepticons with the help of the non evil robot Autobots (to be honest, the robots do most of the work here, mainly because they are about eighty feet tall, and could simply step on all of the humans to defeat them),you’ll need to wait until the 10th of July 2014, when the film is released in UK cinemas.
