Lassie, George of the Jungle and Frosty the Snowman to be revived by DreamWorks

Last year DreamWorks Animation paid $155 million to buy the rights to Lassie, George of the Jungle and Frosty the Snowman.

Now a new Lassie film is in the works, possibly be released on her 75th anniversary in December (we predict).

Some critics are already questioning how successful the film will be, seeing as all animal films lately have talking pets and Lassie has been out of the public eye for some time. Analyst Doug Creutz said: “They may be iconic to people of a certain age, but people of the age they will be targeting have no idea who Lassie is.”

However, Jeffrey Katzenberg, DreamWorks’ chief executive said: ‘She’s heroic, she’s loyal, she really is Man’s best friend’ and ‘the single most recognised pet in the world.’
