Stories of the Mafia world and organised crime go back further than Johnny Depp’s hairline in the new full length trailer for Black Mass which was released today. To enhance your Mafia experience, we suggest you watch the trailer in a full sports tracksuit while drinking an Espresso and saying “forget about it” to everything that anyone says to you throughout the evening.
Directed by Scott Cooper, Black Mass tells the story of Boston Mafia kingpin James Joseph “Whitey” Bulger, who is known as one the most notorious gangsters in US history, along with Al Capone, and of course, Tony Soprano, who featured in the HBO documentary The Sopranos. For the role, Johnny Depp has been aged about 30 years thanks to the make-up skills of a GCSE make up artist, as it’s clear he’s wearing a badly fitting pretend face. Bulger masterminded a violent gang in Boston, whilst taking down his Italian Mob rivals by ratting on them to the FBI ( for those still at school, this means grassing on them.) But Bulger’s life of crime and corruption soon caught up with him, as he was double crossed by corrupt FBI agents and prosecuted. Bulger went on the run, but was captured in 2011 and sentenced to two consecutive life terms for the murder of 19 people, plus 5 years for crimes against hair.
Also starring Benedict Cumberbatch, Kevin Bacon, Juno Temple, Adam Scott and Peter Sarsgaard, Black Mass will be appearing in UK cinemas from November the 13th.
