First trailer for ‘The Fifth Estate’ – Benedict Cumberbatch plays Julian Assange


The first trailer has been released for upcoming drama ‘The Fifth Estate’ starring Benedict Cumberbatch as Julian Assange, the founder of WikiLeaks. The film is based on the books “Inside WikiLeaks: My Time With Julian Assange At The World’s Most Dangerous Website” by Daniel Domscheit-Berg and “WikiLeaks: Inside Julian Assange’s War On Secrecy” by David Leigh and Luke Harding.

Directed by Bill Condon (Dreamgirls) and starring Laura Linney, Stanley Tucci, Daniel Brühl (Goodbye Lenin), Peter Capaldi and David Thewlis, the big question with The Fifth Estate will be how favourable / forgiving a portrait of Assange it creates.

The Fifth Estate will be released in the UK on January 1st 2014.
