First Picture of Dawn of The Planet of The Apes Released

Following on from the reveal of the first footage at Comic-Con, Fox has today released its first picture from the sequel to Planet of The Apes, imaginatively titled Dawn of The Planet of The Apes. The photo doesn’t reveal much, apart from the fact that there are a lot of apes in it, and the main ape from the first film, Caesar, looking a tad cross. The photo is pretty dark and grainy, which may be a hint to the theme and tone of the film.

The new film will pick up some time after the events of Planet of the Apes, with the ape-borne flu (only slightly more serious than man flu) having almost wiped out human society, and the peace established between both races growing increasingly unstable.

The sequel is being directed by Matt Reeves, and stars Gary Oldman, Andy Serkis and Keri Russell. Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes is due to open in the US on 18 July 2014.
