Ben Wheatley’s ‘A Field in England’ to be released in cinemas, on TV and on DVD at the same time

Director Ben Wheatley (Sightseers, Kill List) is to release his latest film ‘A Field in England’ in cinemas, on TV and on DVD/Blu-ray at the same time this friday.

This will be the first time that a film has been released in this way.

Wheatley has said that this multi-platform release will give the film a better chance of being seen by the public.

‘I’d seen Kill List on Film4 and live tweeted along to it. It was really odd – it was like we were in the brain of the audience. It trended while we were watching it and I think in the end it was just under a million viewers that night. I just thought it was a real shame that was right at the end of the process. What would happen if that was brought right to the front?’

He said of A Field in England –

‘It’s all about some guys who run away from a battle during the English Civil War and fall into the clutches of a man who drugs them with a load of magic mushrooms… and then hijinks ensue,’ Wheatley told The Metro.
